Overview/description

This core competency links with Social Awareness because it is referring to an article which talks about the photo based system, of this case, Facebook. When you don't like a photo and it gets deleted off of it, it probably won't get deleted for about 30 months. It links with privacy because it ties in with privacy, because of the whole photo issue. It is getting fixed, but we still should be aware of photos we post online.

Examples

You should not put photos online that you might consider a bad picture of you, family, or friends. Social networking sites such as Facebook keeps deleted photos, and even videos for 2 1/2 years, and they are accessible to everybody. Facebook only says it will only be for a 'limited' amount of time.
The photo system of Facebook is based on a CDN, or Content Delivery Network. It stores millions of copies all around the world so it can be accessed faster and easier. It is working on making some fixes on the photo problem on Facebook, which will allow the photos to be deleted very shortly afterwards.
Even though the CDN is making this fix, people should always be aware of the photos they post in Facebook and other sites they use for social networking.[1]
